Zach was raised in Clackamas, Oregon attending the Metro Church of Christ. He attended Harding University where he met his wife and graduated with a Mass Communication degree. He currently attends the Southwest Church of Christ with his wife, Alaina Hailey and their two children. He occasionally leads singing at his home congregation and other congregations around the region. He enjoys camping with his family, gardening, mentoring sessions, and worship gatherings.

Zach felt the call to ministry in the Pacific Northwest in the summer of 2023 and has since assisted with the class of 2023-2024 Project Antioch gap year program, website management, social media, communication management and recruitment for the 2025-2026 class of Project Antioch.
